Spending What We Don't Have

Mr. Bush has recently asked for 127 billion dollars to spend on the war in Iraq for the year of 2007. If that isn't bad enough, 70 billion dollars has already been approved for military spending in 2007. Anywhere from 127 billion to 160 billion dollars could be added to that if the new proposed budget is approved. It has been reported that any additional funds to the current Iraq war could make the total spending on Iraq pass the total amount of spending on the Vietnam war.

Plus, has anyone heard the news that The United States is going bankrupt?!?! It is a fact that our government is or will become bankrupt.

Besides, even if we can spend this money, shouldn't it be going to something else? It could be going to help the homeless, support the needy, or funding education or many other things. How much money do you see being put into those kind of things? Not a whole lot. In fact, money is being taken from those things to pay for Iraq. This new budget must NOT be approved!

True - it's money we don't have and should probably be denied. But what would then happen to the troops?

I think perhaps conditionally approving the money assuming a new plan is in effect would be the best bet. Make the money contingent on a new strategy and timetable, etc.
